I'm Nicky—the transcriptionist for NZ legal and professional clients who need their audio turned into word-perfect documents.

Without the corrections, the chasing, or the mild existential dread of opening an attachment.

And like most people in my line of work, I have strong opinions about accuracy. Very strong opinions.

I finished my legal secretarial course, and walked right into the legal world. None of the detours, just straight into a keyboard and a stack of dictation work. That was over three decades ago.

Since then, I've typed my way through NZ law firms, did a stint in London (original, I know), and eventually followed my boss when he made the move to become a sole barrister, providing dedicated secretarial support for over twenty years.

With the legal world shifting and sole barristers growing their independent practices, it felt like the right time to open the doors a little wider, and offer that same reliable support to others who needed it.

That's where Shuffel™ came from. Not a dramatic lightbulb moment, simply a natural next step from someone who'd spent thirty years becoming very, very good at one thing.

Of Ngāti Apa and Ngāti Porou descent, I'm proudly a New Zealander through and through, which means I know the people, the terminology, and the tikanga that an offshore platform simply never will.

I knew that getting transcription right the first time could save legal professionals hours they simply don't have.

I knew I didn't want to be another faceless, offshore, AI-generated excuse for a transcription service.

I threw myself into building a reputation among legal practitioners who needed someone they could genuinely trust with sensitive material, and I realised something.

I didn't want clients who needed a cheap, fast, ‘good-enough’ service.

I wanted clients who needed it done right: by a real human, with real expertise, who actually picks up the phone. Sound like you?
